Mango Chutney

Mango Chutney

A condiment made from spiced fruits or vegetables, chutney is a British speciality introduced to India by British colonists. Its name comes from the original word chatni, meaning “strong spices.” Over time, the recipe was softened to create a delicious mixture slowly cooked with vinegar, sugar and spices until it reaches a jam-like consistency.

This recipe is carefully prepared in our workshop in Ariège, France, using fleshy, aromatic mangoes and apple cider vinegar, whose rounded acidity beautifully balances the fruit’s natural sweetness. A flavourful blend of curry, ginger, grey pepper, turmeric, Cayenne pepper and cardamom adds warmth and balance. The chutney is traditionally cooked in a copper cauldron.
